Victim Services of Huron County works in cooperation with Wingham Police Services, the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police and other Emergency Personnel to support and assist with the needs of victims of crime in Huron County. We are a non for profit charitable organization who receives its funding through the Ministry of Attorney General
Victim Services of Huron County has been operational since September 2003. We completed our first volunteer Crisis Responder training in May 2002. To date we have 80 active Crisis Responder who respond to calls on a daily basis. We operate 24/7.
Our teams of trained front line Volunteer Crisis Responders and qualified staff will :
Provide short-term practical and emotional assistance to victims 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Provide information and resources for appropriate community services for follow-up or long term assistance.
Reduce the negative impact of victimization and lessen the trauma induced by crime and crisis by provided immediate, supportive response.
To advocate on behalf of victims and provide education to our community.
To work cooperatively with police and the community to establish a healthy and safe environment
